Quick Look problem

Hi. Quick Look seems to have an issue. If I hit click on a PDF and hit the space bar, the PDF comes up in QL along with the thumbnails. When I scroll through the pages, I can only EVER get through two (occasionally three, if I'm quick) pages and then I can't scroll any further–neither forward nor back. I can, however, scroll through the thumbnails and click on the thumbnail of the page I want and the page will then show. But I can't scroll.

Interestingly, the same happens when I use QL in Scrivener, which suggests it is a QL problem.

I didn't have this problem prior to El Capitan (or maybe I did in Mavericks, I can't remember. I know I've had it for a couple of years. I didn't use Yosemite). I have done a clean install (for another reason) on my MacBook. The problem is still there.

My 2009 MacBook is maxed out on El Capitan, so I can't try a later OS.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
