Unlocking iwatch

I recently updated my phone and watch after ios11 came out. Since then the only way to unlock my watch is through my iPhone. I originally had it set to a simple passcode in my watch. But ever since the upgrade I can’t change any of my iwatch passcode settings. I’ve reset it twice to no avail. How can I change my passcode for my iwatch back to a simple passcode that I can enter in my watch?!

If you are unable to change the passcode settings for your Apple Watch, then passcode restrictions are likely enforced on your iPhone (via a corporate configuration profile, mobile device management or Exchange policy).

Where passcode restrictions are set on a managed iPhone, they also affect Apple Watch.
