My mid-2010 iMac 21.5 with 4GB of memory (processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3) is running very slowly and now increasingly is freezing up and getting the rainbow wheel. I have to switch it off at the power to reboot. Its on El Capitan v10.11.6.
What can I do to improve performance? I'm thinking about resetting to factory settings and restoring from a backup. I keep my backup on an external hard drive.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Could be any number of things or a combination of different things.
The best way to sort out the problem, is to run EtreCheck and post back with the results.
