watchOS 4: Keeps opening same application

I have a Apple Watch Series 2 and upgraded to watchOS 4 this week. One of the things that has changed is that it keeps opening up the stop watch application. Given I don't notice I have stopped it accidentally when I need to keep going. I have tried opening other applications so that they re-open but it always goes back to the stop watch application.

After going through all the configuration settings I'm at a loss. Anyone have an idea on why this is happening?
