TouchID Missing from MacBook Pro

TouchID is missing from my MacBook Pro suddenly.

I've tried many obvious things like resetting SMC, NVRAM, reboots, etc.

I have attempted to Spotlight "TouchID" and it finds the preference pane and attempts to open it, but it errors out saying... "You can't open the "Touch ID" preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time."

I also tested creating a new user to test with a fresh user and it WORKS for my new user. So the computer hardware is fine from what I can tell.

Using bioutil I can verify it is enabled...

bioutil -r

User Touch ID configuration:

  Touch ID for unlock: 1

  Touch ID for ApplePay: 1

Effective Touch ID for unlock: 1

Effective Touch ID for ApplePay: 1

Operation performed successfully.

bioutil -r -s

System Touch ID configuration:

  Touch ID functionality: 1

  Touch ID for unlock: 1

Operation performed successfully.

It also shows I have 0 finger prints.

bioutil -c

User 1028: 0 fingerprint(s)

Operation performed successfully.

Any ideas how I can restore this?!

Did this happen to you after installing the High Sierra beta? It did for me.

Except for the fingerprint count from bioutil -c (mine shows 2), everything matches what you described exactly, for me.
