Keyboard and Cursor unstable on GH

1. Mid 2014 MacBook Pro (2.5GHZ  Intel Core i7) is the second Mac to have become keyboard and cursor erratic...input from either is now totally unreliable...typing is nearly impossible...hover the cursor a moment and the computer jumps to some other screen ...tried unloading apps, reset SMC     ....  no reference to this problem on support sites. but I know it from dealing with it on another Mac
2. running sierra 10.12.6

How long have you had this problem? Did it start suddenly, or was it gradual?

Do you have a different (external) keyboard and mouse you can test?

Does the problem persist in safe mode? Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

Try booting into the recovery partition and see if the problem persists. To do so, shut down your computer. Hold down the command and R keys, then press the power button. You can release both keys once you see the apple logo appear. Try using Safari for awhile by click on "get help online", then "continue". Then use Safari like you normally would. Does the keyboard problem still appear?
