Install Error Message "There is no application ...
I've tried to install two different programs, one is a PDF veiwer, and the other is the program MAX/MSP onto my macbook pro and I keep getting the following message when I try to install: "There is no application set to open the document “Max 6 Installer'"
How do I fix this?
Thanks!
Depends on how they are to be installed. If they are supposed to use the Installer, the select the item; press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window; in the Open With panel select Installer from the dropdown menu. It's located in the /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder; click on the Change All button. That should do it.
WHen I click on Open With, there is no option to select. There isn't an option to click on Installer. There is only none and other.
What is the file extension of the programs you are trying to install? i.e. do they end in .EXE? Unless you have special requirements you do not need to install a .PDF viewer on a Mac, Preview will open .PDF files.
Its happening when I try to open various things. The Max/MSP file is .mpkg, the pdf viewer is meant to view protected PDF files and it is .pkg, I also just tried to open a file that is a liscence file and it is . lly They all bring up the same error message
Select 'Other' then locate the file using the File Open dialog.
.mpkg is a Master Package installer that is self-contained. A .pkg is just a simple package installer.
You want to locate /System/Library/CoreServices/Installer using the dialog that appears when you select Other in the Open With panel.
I dont understand where to locate /System/Library/CoreServices/Installer
Hmmm. Haven't used a Mac very long, have you?
OK, let's give this a try:
Per previous post get to the Open With panel.
From the dropdown menu select Other.
You should see a File Open dialog like below:
Navigate to the desired location:
Note that on your machine the hard drive is probably named, Macintosh HD, instead of Test Bed as you see above.
After you have selected the Installer click on the Add button.
I'm trying to download a .EXE application and its telling me that there is no application to install or whatever
How can I install the application??
It doesn't have Launcher as an option how do I get Launcher
