can I store on iCloud Drive and not on my hard ...

I have limited capacity on my hard drive but 2 TB on my iCloud Drive.  How do I store on iCloud to access later on my hard drive, and not have these files also stored on my hard drive?  I see no way of doing this. I can do this with dropbox, google drive, and onedrive, I want to also do this with iCloud Drive.
