1.5yr old 2TB Time Capsule overheating

I have a 1.5yr old 2TB Time Capsule that was purchased from official Apple products shop that is now overheating.

I have looked at various messages saying that it is a recognised design fault but I did not know this when product was still in first year of guarantee.

Do I have recourse to obtain an exchange? If not, how can I fix the problem? (No Version Update button and set to update each week so believe firmware is up to date. Well ventilated, normal use small network backing up a Macbook Pro. Not even the main router as need to run a branded router from my ISP as on fibre optic.

Will Apple help?
