How do I upgrade Pages and Numbers In Yosemite ...

I have Yosemite 10.10.5 which seems to be the last upgrade my iMac can handle.  Why can I not upgrade Pages (currently 5.6.2) and Numbers (3.6.2)?  I have tried repeatedly and continue to get time-to-upgrade messages when I open these applications.

How can I upgrade my Yosemite to latest iOS?

Nate

So if you want the latest versions of Pages 6.2 and Numbers 4.2 you have to upgrade your Macs operating system to macOS Sierra which you can download via the App Store only if your iMac is the late 2009 model or newer.

If your iMac is older than the late 2009 model you are only able to upgrade to El Capitan, Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support and that will not allow you to upgrade Pages and Numbers to the latest releases but should allow you to get versions 5.6.2 and 3.6.2.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

The present Pages v6.2 and Numbers v4.2 require a macOS Sierra installation. The latter requires a Late-2009 iMac or newer. Even if you could download and install El Capitan, your Pages v5.6.2, and Numbers v3.6.2 are the highest versions available on El Capitan.

Thanks for your info, Viking.  I have Yosemite 10.10.5, so I'm out of date.  Any way that I can upgrade this without buying a new desktop?  N

What specific hardware do you have?  menu : About This Mac. On that panel, you will see the Mac hardware type, and release date (e.g. iMac Late-2009). What does yours say?

You must have an iMac 2012 or later to install Yosemite, and that iMac satisfies the hardware requirements for macOS High Sierra. Per the following hardware criterion:

Before you get hasty and install macOS High Sierra, make certain that you have a solid backup of your machine and home directory. Follow Eric Root's advice on other steps. I would also run Disk Utility and apply First Aid against your boot drive, before any installation. Do not be low on boot drive space, or patience, as High Sierra will take longer than stated, while the installation progresses across multiple boot sequences.

You can find High Sierra in the Mac App Store under Apps made by Apple in the Quick Links column. Once High Sierra is installed, you can obtain the free Pages v6.3, Numbers v4.3, and Keynote v7.3 from the Mac App Store too.
