Diagnostics Information:

    2017-09-12 16:01:40    Last shutdown cause: 3 - Hard shutdown

Shut down

disconnect all external devices except OEM keyboard and mouse

reset the smc

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

boot into safe boot mode

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

then reboot normally

three things I would look at

4GB RAM is not "a lot" of RAM any longer, Apple claims 2GB RAM is needed for their later OS X variants but the findings on these forums show even 4GB RAM can be a bottleneck in most situations.

Consider replacing your HHD with an SSD, your drive is 7 years old and an SSD would be far faster, and less likely to fail due to age and use

Consider removing the Leapfrog software and if those furry robots get hacked it the will of a higher power.

RAM for your Mac should state it's specifically tested for that Mac. Do not use RAM you find that does not make this claim. Despite form factory, timing, latency and voltage RAM that appears to be compatible with this Mac that does not state that is is can often fail to POST.

I prefer macsales.com (OWC) for parts, others vendors are an options as well such as Corsair and Crucial.
