Car and IOS update

I have a 2013 Kia Rio. Every single app I have to play music was working fine. Then the update happened and not my car won’t even register my phone. It says “reading device” and then 2 minutes later it says “communications to device failed” again never had the issue till this update and I’d really like to have my freaking music back. Especially cause I’d like to hear my GPS on my phone through my car speakers instead of trying to drive and listen. I don’t know how you guys are even trying to fix it but I’d like it fixed. Again everything worked before the update happened
