Recovered Messages (Google) folder

I use Mail 10.3 (3273) on macOS Sierra 10.12.6.  One account is gmail.  There is a folder called Recovered Messages (Google) under On My Mac.  I want to delete that folder and have no recovered mail.  I leave the mail on the server so I can get to it from my iOS devices also.  Is it safe to delete the Recovered Messages (Google) folder?  Will mail not put it back?

Is it safe to delete the Recovered Messages (Google) folder?

Provided it contains no messages you require, yes. Two-finger tap that Folder and select Delete Mailbox...

Confirm you read and understand the dialog that appears next by clicking Delete.

Will mail not put it back?

It shouldn't, unless the circumstances that required its creation occur again.
