How to get rid of a Photos activity notice?

A friend went on a trip to Switzerland and shared a Photos album with me. I received a notice about it on my Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

I accepted the invitation to join the album on my iPhone. And I even posted some comments.

But the Photos icon on the dock on my MacBook Pro is still showing a red "1" indicating pending activity.

When I go into Photos on my Mac I see the same invitation to join the "Switzerland" album. There is an Accept link there, but trying to click it doesn't do anything.

I can see all the photos, and the comments. And I see the albums as well inside Mac Photos, and can add comments there.

So how can I get rid of the notification under Activity? It's already been done.

Thanks.

I just solved it. Apparently clicking decline makes the notice go away, but I still have the same access to the shared albums.

Counterintuitive, don't you think?
