MacBook Retina 12 inch (Early 2015) Logic board

My MacBook is just slightly over 1 year old and the warranty just expired. After a normal shutdown, the MacBook didn't power up anymore. After check up in an Authorized Service Provider, they told me the logic board is damaged. Paying nearly USD 2,000 for a MacBook, a USD 740 repair after on e year sounds as something wrong.

Who has the same problems? I never used a cover, had spill or a drop.

I would demand answers as to WHY the logic board needs to be replaced. There are no documented cases of Mac EFI being hacked or correlated in the wild but I too had this same problem with an older 2012 MBP 15.4 retina. Apple refused to provide me answers and I was essentially forced to buy a new machine.

Only question would be have you downloaded all the updates - including firmware updates - for your device?

I suspect that the Geniuses may not know (or be able to tell) precisely why the board failed. Components do simply fail. If they fail after the warranty has expired, you need to pay for the repair.

Yes, all updates for Software and Firmware were installed.

I had windows PC's for years and never any logic board failed.

I shouldn't expect this expensive repair of a USD 1,600 device in shortly after 1 year.

My 18 month MacBook just got diagnosed with same problem - i find this ridiculous! I've had a Toshiba laptop for 6 years and still working perfectly.  How does Apple justify this? Very upset!  Is there another avenue?

I've never had a logic board fail in all the years I've owned Macs (going back to 1988). It doesn't happen often. But, sometimes, it does. And, if it happens to you, it's very frustrating. However, the warranty is 1 year. The terms of that warranty are quite usual for electronics. You had the option, at the time you purchased the computer to purchase an extended warranty (AppleCare+). Apparently, you didn't. You gambled that you wouldn't need the additional coverage and lost. It happens.

This is way I buy AppleCare extending my warranty for 2 extra years for only 150 Euro that's a good deal.

Hello, I have the same problem with my Macbook 12'' (Early 2015).

Never spill or drop, now my Macbook freeze and shut down fews minutes after boot up or sometime unable to boot up at all.

May I ask have you solve the problem and how?

Planing to buy a new logic board and replace it myself

Can't afford to repair it in Authorized Service Provider, they ask for RM3000+(USD 700)

Yes, so up sad about my Macbook. i'm one of the victim too.

I have got exactly the same model and had experience exactly the same problem.
