why do I need to enter my social security number?

I received an email stating I would be charged a fee of $99.99  for a music subscription that I have never signed up for. I am curious if this is a scam going around or it it's actually apple. I am unable to click any buttons on the top of the screen except those and the fact I entered my social is a little concerning. Is this a scam?

It is a phishing scam. Don't provide any information. Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
