MobileSync cleanout

Is it safe to delete the MobileSync folder off of my MacBook Pro if my iPhone is now backed up solely to the cloud? It's using about 80 GB of storage on my laptop.

Yes, but it’s also a good idea to make a fresh local, iTunes backup in addition to your iCloud backup before upgrading iOS.

You can manage local backups via iTunes > Preferences > Devices. Delete old and unneeded backups from there.
