Fake lightning cable?

I just recently bought a lightning USB cable on eBay and I looked online to see if it was fake. One thing said that a real cable says "designed by apple in California manufactured in China" then a serial number at the end. I looked on mine and it only said designed by California manufactured in China, then the serial number. There was nothing that said apple?? Do I have a fake lightning cable??

It is very possible. Did it come in a box from Apple? The best way to be sure you get genuine Apple products is to purchase directly from Apple, or an Authorized Apple Reseller.  Identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector accessories - Apple Support
