Delete the undo cache fcpx?

I'm running FCPX 10.3.4 on a 27 inch iMac with macOS Sierra 10.12.6 installed.  Plenty of hard drive space free.

Here's my problem.  After a period of time editing, trying out effects, FCPX slows way down.  I'm talking WAAAAY down.  I have to quit the program and open it again.  This deletes the amount of data built up in what I'll call my "undo cache."  Once that's empty, things hum along like normal.

Is there any way to delete the undo cache without shutting down the program?  I understand that if I do there's no going back.  I can live with that.  Shutting down the program and re-loading my project is a waste of time, but hunt as I might I cannot find any way to delete this cache by any other means.
