Watch pauses audio during run

Just loaded watch OS 4 and iOS 11 and went for my daily run with my phone, watch, and AirPods.  I was streaming a podcast from the podcast app as I usually do, but every time the workout would automatically  pause at a water fountain or a notification came in that I had hit a mile mark, the podcast would stop playing and I would have to find the podcast app on my watch to hit play again and start the audio going. I tested switching to Music that was stored on the watch and had no issues.  Anyone else experienced this glitch and have a solution/advice?
