I want to remove Fox News from Siri news feed s...

recently all of Siri's news feed suggestions are from Fox New.  Fox news is not a real news source and I want it removed from my news feeds.  I have already muted it.  I have many other favorite Of which they are not one. How can I remove Fox News?

I live in Hawaii, which is the most liberal and diverse State in the US, so it cannot be the location, also , I had this problem with only one device; i.e.100% of my news feeds from Fox News.  I went into one of the Honolulu Apple Stores and after trying many things, they were only able to finally fix this problem, with me resetting everything on my computer. First saved everything to the Cloud; then Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. (I tried first to Reset just "All Settings" and that did not work).  I then had to re download everything including my photos, email and Apps. Now I again get a variety of news feeds.  It appears that there is some kind of Fox News virus out there...

Per the folks at Apple you should never get only Fox News in your feeds.  They said it was the first time they saw anything like that.

As a result of the great service at the Apple Store we will remain an "Apple Family".

At the moment you can't control the source of this news feed.. if you mean the feed you see when you swipe right on the home screen place under Siri Suggestions.

If that is true then It appears Apple is in some kind of deal with Fox News and I will slowly switch from Apple to other products.  It will take a while as my family has ipad's, Mac's, and iPhones, but I do not want to do business with any company that does business with Fox News.

I feel your pain, but that does seem a bit drastic. Perhaps you should use the feedback page and voice a complaint. I'll join you. I hadn't noticed as I don't use Siri.

I'm not sure how Apple pick the sources, here in the UK I see The Telegraph, The Guardian and Reuters, which are all fine as sources, but personally I'd prefer the BBC.

Compeltely agree with you Hoku556 on switching products. Fox News somehow has somehow taken over my Siri suggested news feed this month as well - even with it muted. I used to enjoy getting headlines from a variety of sources from news runs I actually do pay attention to but with Fox News inundating my feed, I feel a bit betrayed.  It's completely invasive and makes me uncomfortable that Apple is intentionally or unintentionally is  controlling my news through this feature.

This is interesting. How exactly do you get your Siri news?

I've tried asking for "current news," but I'm getting a pretty non-Fox mix of stories. Which is fine with me, but I'd like to know what's happening.

I should have referred to it as "Spotlight Suggestione" above. It's the news feed when you swipe right from your home screen but controlled by General -> Spotlight Search -> Spotlight Suggestions.

I rarely get articles from Fox. I've heard that it can vary by region and what articles are being liked in the main News app in your area. I don't know if that's true or not.

What's humorous is that a number of people have posted equally indignant threads about how all of the suggestions on their phones are from "liberal" media. I suspect we are all inclined to notice the things that annoy us more than those that don't prompt an emotional reaction. No big conspiracy here. Just normal human confirmation bias.

I was wondering about whether or not it was related to the likes in a certain area - but I doubt it because 1) that many people in my area can't like Fox News THAT much so that it's the only single source of news in my feed and 2) we 3 other "i" devices in my household and they all show a variety of sources.

I actually don't see the humor in having your entire news feed inundated with only Fox News (there isn't a single other news source in there) especially when 1) you've muted the channel, 2) alerted Apple to it with no reply 3)it's a new source that doesn't match you profile. Perhaps I could find it humorous too if I weren't on the receiving end. Completely agree there is no conspiracy here, but there is an error in the algorithm/programming or some distribution privileges being awarded here. Or somewhere on my phone I've unknowingly enabled a "Fox News only" setting on my phone? If so, can someone please tell me where this is..

fyi... from the WWDC Keynote notes...

You didn't understand what I meant at all. What I find funny is that there have been a number of people complaining that all they find in the suggestions is "liberal propaganda", indicating Apple's liberal bias. And then, in this thread, people are, apparently seriously, suggesting that Apple has some sort of deal with Fox. Peoples' tendencies to impute sinister motives to people/organizations they disagree with strikes me as both very funny and very sad.

Thanks for this! I will try it out. By the way, today my feed switched from 100% Fox News to 90% Huffington Post - perhaps Apple is doing something to help out here. Anyway - will try the reinstall.

Sorry to hear that. Out of the frying pan into... another equally awful frying pan.
