Time Machine Email Backup

I currently have Time Machine backups pointing to a NAS drive dedicated for backups. When I pull up Time Machine from the Mail app, all the snapshots are empty, meaning no emails are populated in any of the previous snapshots. Emails are coming in and synced from non-Apple servers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
