Copy few photos from pendrive to iPhone

Hi!

I'm pretty new to iPhone and iMac and I don't know how to do a very basic operation like this:

I have a pendrive with 600+ photos, and I need to copy 8 of them to my iPhone 7. When I was using an Android phone and a PC this was as easy as connecting the smartphone to the computer and dragging the desired photos from the pendrive to the destination folder (I usually copied the photos to the 'Pictures' folder in the smartphone). However, I couldn't find out how to do this on the Mac world. I've read on Internet that I have to import the photos from the pendrive to the iMac and then sync it with the iPhone. Isn't there an easier solution for this? Could someone tell me the different options for doing this?
