messages not working on macbook air

Hello, I have a 2013 MacBook Air running 10.12.6.  I've recently discovered that my messages and facetime apps on the macbook do not work on my home wifi network, but they work just fine at my work wifi network.  Nothing has changed with the routers or settings of either network.  My messages and facetime work just fine with my iPhone 7 on the home network, so why not the MacBook?  Have searched the internet high and low and tried all the restarts and logging in and out and zapping PRAM and restarting the router all to no avail. I am logged in with the same apple ID on all devices.  Any ideas?
