Importing only some of the songs on a CD

When iTunes asks me if I want to import the entire CD, I say "No" because I only want some of the songs, but no checkmarks appear next to each song so I can't deselect the songs I don't want.  How can I correct this?

I have a Dell OptiPlex 7010 using Windows 10 Pro.
