Micky mouse occasional speaker distortion/crackle
HI when I press Micky Mouse to speak occasionally the first part of the time sounds distorted with a crackle. It seems to happen if I haven't pressed it for a few hours. Anyone else notice this?
regards
adam
Hi Adam
I have experienced audio interference (which I also described as a "crackle") with the Tap to Speak Time feature for both the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse watch faces on Apple Watch Series 2.
I find that it occurs intermittently and only during announcements that include more than just the time (with the addition of, for example, "good afternoon" or "good evening"). It does not appear to be an issue with the audio file, as it may occur on one day at any given time, but not on the next day at the same time and with the same greeting.
The issue has persisted after troubleshooting steps including restarting, unpairing / re-pairing and on a replacement watch paired with a new iPhone.
I am therefore reluctant to suggest that you follow any similar steps, as I doubt that they would help.
I suggest that you contact Apple Support to advise that you are also experiencing this issue (which I understand is currently being investigated), taking advantage of your initial 90 days of complimentary technical support:
You may find it helpful, for the purpose of demonstrating it, to first record the sound using Voice Memos on your iPhone (hold your watch close to the microphone). The file can then be replayed and shared via email with Apple Support (it does not come across clearly when played back over a phone line). It may take a few tries to record an example, given the intermittent nature of the issue.
I've been having the same problem. Just got my watch for Christmas 2016. It seems to happen when I havent used the watch in a while, then tap on the watch face to tell the time and he says more then just the time. It makes me smile when he says extras like, "Good morning pal" but a bit annoying to have it glitch out, or crackle. I suspect this is happening to many people but it is difficult to define the search terms in google as some people describe it differently.
Ditto... Only seems to be on Mickey announcing time with extended greeting if you haven't used it in a while... No other noticeable distortion on call conversations or other notification sounds. Never noticed it on my Series 0, but my new Series 2 does it all the time.
Hey Jonathan,
Did you ever find a solution/fix to this issue? Recently bought an Apple Watch Series 2 and I am having the same issue in regards to Mickey Mouse 'tap to speak' which is quite unfortunate. Thank you in advanced.
Regards,
Brennan
I'm experiencing th same audio crackle with Mickey.. My initial worry was if I had purchased a series 2 with speaker defect... I haven't been able to reproduce the crackle sound except with Mickey from time to time.. still unsure if I should exchange it since the watch wasn't cheap.. aside from that my wristband began peeling after only a day of owning the watch... :/ strange..
I too have just noticed this issue on my new 42mm Nike+ watch. Has anyone received any solution from Apple?
HI
I reported this as a case to apple support. An online chat ended with a reset, unpair etc. Mickey crackled and popped soon afterwards!!! The support on my second attempt suggested returning the watch (I have had it 7 days).
I Think this will only be solved with an update after apple react to the problem appropriately.
I've heard this a few times. I can still hear Mickey but there's a clipping sound in his voice, either when he's telling the time or when he's giving a greeting afterwards. Mine is less than a week old (Series 2, Nike+), otherwise works just fine so I'm guessing it's software. I contacted AppleCare about it (chat) and the rep said it's 'rare' but believes it is software, wait for the next update seems to be the prevailing wisdom.
Running WatchOS 3.1.3 and iOS 10.2.1 (iPhone 7+).
I can't believe this issue is still going on. I purchased my watch in Late December, Nike Edition. Like others here; I did the reset, repairing, erase, and that didn't change a thing. Contacted Apple, they sent me out a new one. Same problem occured. I don't know if it's the Nike version of the watch, a production problem, or software? I don't quite believe it is software related because I would think many more people would be complaining about the issue, and I/we have been through multiple updates of software. I will say this, I'm not happy, I have been a lifelong supporter of Apple and their products dating back to the late 80's, I have always been pleased with my products...because they worked correctly. This "glitch" although admittedly small, make me feel that my watch is broken and that does not make me a satisfied or happy customer.
