two copies of everything?

Hi - all the sudden I have two copies of most of my purchased movies and TV shows in iTunes. One has the Cloud icon in the corner. Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but what does this mean? I don't remember setting anything to store my purchases in the cloud,and I can't see these purchased from my other Apple devices.

Also, sometimes when I make purchases they don't download - I get the Cloud icon next to the item - this is irritating as I buy things to watch on my Apple TV and can't until I go in and manually download them. How do I turn that convenient feature off? :-)

Seems to be  a glitch. You can use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly). You should be able to turn back on again without getting bonus listings if you have some content in the cloud not downloaded locally that you want access to.

There are several posts relating to this problem.  The method suggest by turingtest2 and others worked temporararly for me however the problem came back after restarting itunes.  I found that signing out of the itunes store and then signing back in resolved the problem and now I can open and close itunes without the icloud duplicates showing up again.

For the auto download of purchases I'm not sure, all purchases should automatically start to download when you purchase them from itunes directly on your pc but I think you do have to manually download them if you buy them from another device.  Sorry I cannot help futher on this question .

I have the same problem. I've tried using apple support but they are useless where this issue is concerned.

There is clearly a bug in the way iTunes works on a windows PC. It sometimes seems to want to download another copy of a movie that is already downloaded. Delete it / hide it but you are only masking the problem.The store seems to lose sync with local content and try to download additional copies and apple seem to be very quiet about why this happens or how to fix it.

I have a very slow internet connection and this problem makes living with digital content extremely frustrating!
