Transfer of contacts

How do I transfer contacts from my iPhone to my MacBook Air? I've tried doing it through the iTunes Info tab but it doesn't work.

You don't have to transfer anything if you are logged into iCloud on your devices with the same account. After logging in you can hit the check boxes off data you want to sync. just set it and forget it.
