ipod 6 passcode locked no solutions

My daughters ipod 6 is passcode locked b/c she forgot the password. When I try to connect to iTunes I get a message that says "itunes cannot connect to ipod because it is locked with a passcode" but any solution I've found doesn't work. I've tried usb connecting in DFU mode on recovery screen but that is as far as I get, I never get the iTunes problem screen that tells me I need to update or restore.  What do I  do?

I finally got it. Turns out that switching the PC I was connected to just didn't have the proper files for iTunes to go into recovery mode. So hooking it up to another PC w/ iTunes worked.

That means thay you did not successfully get the iPod in recovery mode or DFU mode (they are different). Keep trying.

Did both the Home and Power buttons work?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
