Reinstalling MacOS Sierra over existing install...

Hi there. I have recently installed a cloned SSD to my MacBook Pro mid-2012 running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 and I have lost the recovery partition. I wish to recover that and I read that I can perform a fresh Sierra installation on top of the existing one without the risk of losing files and without the need for erasing anything. Given though, that my SSD is already partitioned (300Gb) to support a Bootcamp section, will the reinstallment of Sierra to the existing MacOS partition affect the Bootcamp too? Many thanks in advance.

Hi there,

start to have a look here: macOS Sierra: Reinstall macOS and here: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support.

Maybe you want to have a look here as well: Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

Many thanks but that is not what I was looking for. I am not interested in how to reinstall Sierra but as to whether a reinstallation will affect my current Bootcamp partition. Can I just simply reinstall over its current installation in the Mac HD partition where it currently sits?

Hi there, sorry

Well, when you install macOS you can definitely choose the partition where to re-install it, so your other partition won't be touched (unless you want it). But I'm not sure that Windows will continue to boot. Let's wait somebody else's reply

Many thanks once again. Truly helpful and let's wait for some more reassurance.
