10.5" iPad Pro speakers very quiet
Is something wrong with the speakers on my 10.5" iPad Pro?
The speakers on my 10.5" iPad Pro (with iOS 10.3.2) are unusually quiet. At the same volume setting (e.g., 1 bar) my iPad 3 (iOS 9.3.5) is much louder; indeed I can barely hear any sound from my 10.5" iPad Pro at that volume setting. Even at a volume setting of 2 bars my 10.5" iPad Pro is much quieter than my iPad 3 at a volume setting of 1 bar. I have not done anything to adjust the volume, sound or speakers in either device, except to use the buttons that are on the side of the device or the slider on the playback screen.
Another thing about the speakers: The volume changes. For example, the sounds (engine noise, tire squeal) from racing games (Street Kart, Gear.Club) will sometimes be louder than at other times. I may run a race and the sound is audible, and then on the next race it will be inaudible.
I just received mine the other day and have now had time to experiment with it. The first thing I noticed was no sound when typing, or it was extremely low. My iPhone is much louder than this iPad. Spotify sounds ok, but I need to have the volume up quite a bit to sound decent. I did see a post on another site where someone who had an iPad Air 2 say that it was louder than the 10.5 Pro. Anywho, I'm going to keep watching the forums to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Why not? That’s the first thing you should do when comparing devices: ensure all settings are the same.
By any measure, the iPad Pro has more, better and louder speakers. If that’s not the case for you, get the device evaluated at an Apple store. This link is for iPhone, but the steps apply to iPads.
At your suggestion I checked the settings and they are the same on both devices, which is what I expected inasmuch as I have never changed them from the factory defaults.
I have read elsewhere that the volume on the 10.5" iPad Pro increases logarithmically instead of linearly, as it does on older devices. The posters wrote that, at the same volume settings on both devices, the new iPad is similarly loud as the old iPads when the volume setting is high, but quieter when the volume setting is below 1/3 (i.e., 1, 2 or 3 bars). Or perhaps it is iOS 10 that deals with volume differently than iOS 9.
