itunes 12.0.1.26 how to delete an app

How do I delete an iPhone App from iTunes 12.0?

You should select the Apps icon from the row of sources at the top left, then select My Apps or My iPhone Apps, then select the app you want to delete and delete it, either with a keyboard shortcut or a context menu. I'm working with Windows, but I'm pretty sure the OS X version is the same.

That doesn't seem to work. I'm in iTunes, deleted Apps in window to left of screen, clicked on the App in the middle of the screen and hit backspace. Nothing happens.
