The message "Your Mac was unable to communicate...

I'm sure this question has been asked somewhere, but I've been unable to quickly find an answer...anybody have this problem that has resolved it?

Hi

Another user found that disabling and re-enabling Handoff on their iPhone resolved this issue:

  • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Handoff

Re: Your Mac was unable to communicate with your Apple Watch

It's happening the same thing to me. I've been trying everything that I could find on the web, but nothing works. Keeps appearing this message.

I Had same problem but found that my iPhone that was paired with the watch was on a different wifi network than the iMac.  I use a range extender and therefore have a few networks I can connect to.

I had no idea my MBP was on a different network. I have the same set up and it worked.

Thanks.

Using the same wifi network for the phone and Mac got my watch paired, but the watch still won't open my Mac. Back to Knock until this is resolved. BTW - it works great on my laptop at home. If it only works via the same wireless network... that is a problem in mixed connection (ethernet, multiple wireless nodes) environments.

My MBP, iPhone and Watch are at the same wifi network... and nothing... sad and frustrating... even the copy/ paste thru handoff is not working...

Try the step in my previous reply (you may have missed it due to posting soon afterwards).

I've tried to turn off the handoff , MBP and iPhone and nothing changed... some other ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Check also that Handoff is enabled on your Mac:

  • System Preferences > General - near the bottom, check the option for "Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices".

yeap... it's working here as I use iPhone and MBP. Only the unlock and the copy/paste are the problems... very strange.

It looks like the bluetooth on the mac try to connect and no answer... and my MBP is updated and its Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015

That worked for me.  Thanks for sharing!

My watch is now working as expected to open my iMac. Thanks for all the posts!

I also played with my screen locking on the MPB. When I messed with that, it magically starting working. Strange.
