my 2017 macbook pro will not type certian lette...

I just got my laptop and nothing has happened to it.  I have tried to restart it many times and that didn’t work. All the keys on the left side of the keyboard aren’t working. When I click the letters on the left my computer screen starts to freeze and but my mouse still works. Any suggestions?
