Old apple accounts with lost passwords

I just upgraded to an iPhone 8plus. Some of the apps on my old phone are associated with an old account that I do not remember the password to and the email id is no longer functioning. I am locked out of the App Store and cannot re-download these apps or use the current version. How can I recover or change the password to this old account?
