How to prevent Reminders from automatically cre...

In the OS X Reminders app, every time I edit a reminder with a date in it, it adds an alert. I want to use Reminders as a simple check list. The date it grabs may not be when it's due anyway. It's never what I want. Maybe I have a reminder like "Buy chips for the party on Saturday". It will make an alert for Saturday, but I need to buy the chips way before then!

It's a pain to go in and edit the alert and turn it off every time I edit something. I wish there was a preference to turn this off.

I noticed that using the esc key after editing a reminder will not create the alert. But, it also doesn't save the edit! When I quit Reminders and relaunch it, my edits are gone where I used the esc key.

Thanks.

It’s a pain to me too. I can’t find a way to prevent it either. My solution now is using Microsoft To Do app. It has comparable features but less buggy. The drawback is it doesn’t have the Mac app yet.
