MacBook Pro Early 2011 Graphics Card failure ve...

A Couple of days ago my MacBook switched off and would not reboot.

I Took it to an authorised repair centre to be told as it dated from early 2011 it is now 'vintage' and 'obsolete' and parts not available.

It has never had any problems and was running efficiently with an upgraded 16gb ram and SSD.

Having been told there was nothing that could be done, I found another repair centre who say they are fairly sure they can fix it But this will involve replacing the chip which may cause irreperable damage.

However, what has made me furious is that I looked up the issue only to see that my laptop and others of the era have a specific issue which was covered by an extended support plan which ended at the end of 2016 (3 weeks ago). Should the owners of these products not have been informed and an offer made to check a potential for failure?

i Have owned apple products since 2005 and am now tempted to ditch the lot.

I have the same problem here.

I have already face the graphic card failure before, and this happen again after I have already replace the logic board for solving the problem of the graphic card issue by Apple about year ago.(they need to replace the whole logic board, not just the graphic card)

And again, it's failure again on the 9th January 2017, nine days after the replacement program end.

I call apple care for this problem, and they said that they cannot help me with this, I need to pay for the replacement of the logic board around 800USD to solve and it will have just 90 days warranty after the replacement. The logic board that they offer never guarantee that you will never face this problem again in the future. I'm so disappoint in Apple products.

Same exact problem here.

This is my Second macbook and Third motherboard and now it is out of warranty.

The macbook heats up to tremendous temperatures and slows down to a crawl while just viewing web pages.

The computer CANNOT be used with any third party software(Adobe products) efficiently, it will overheat until the CPU throttles itself.

Apple have assured me that the machine is operating as it was designed!

I WAS an Apple supporter for 19 years, no more...
