How to connect two monitors to my macbook air (...

So I'm running an adapter from my thunderbolt port which has vga and hdmi connectors on it. From there I ran a vga and hdmi to their respective monitors, but I seem to only be able to use just one monitor instead of both? As soon as i connected the hdmi one, the vga one went blank. Are there any solutions to this or is it completely impossible? Thanks.

Hello - sorry I don't have the answer just experiencing something similar, so hopefully someone can help both of us at the same time.

 

I want to plug my Macbook Air (late 2011) into two monitors. I can buy a thunderbolt>hdmi connector but that only allows one monitor to be plugged in. Is there an easy (and hopefully inexpensive) solution?
