Apple watch charging problem

Own 1st gen Apple watch and have used for a while.

it shows snake charging indicator with green lighte sign once i place on the charger.

snake charging symbol only last 1-2 seconds and disappear.   Not charging.

tried a hard reset but no response. Only thing i see on the screen is snake with green lightening symbol when i place it on the charger.

charger is fine(working fine with other Apple watch), surface of charging spot is super clean On both.

only used few days when purchased and stored without using.

of course warranty expired.

Anyone has idea if this is repairable without going to apple which I believe they will charge $199 for repair according to their repair price guide.

There was a typo on original posting.

this watch was used for about a week and kept in drawers. My wife didn't like it.

i had to take it to apple store and they said battery could go bad if I don't use it And it is out of warranty.

it is $199 for take into next level (technicians at apple store could only assume it is battery and have to send it to diagnose and repair and it is $199).

saw advertisements from best buy that they selling new apple watch for $229.

so i decide to throw it away into garbage can.

feeling bad i am throwing away nearly new watch but what can i do.

When discarding an Apple product, you may wish to consider recycling it.

 

Depending on your country, options may include recycling it online (ie via post) or at an Apple Store. In the US, for example:

 

My gf's series 1 apple watch is facing the same "snake" issue. Didn't wear it for a month and it is just stuck at the charging snake screen and won't boot up. Apple please provide a solution for this, as I believe it might be a software or hardware defect since manufacturing. Sadly, my 1-year warranty is over and the repair cost is exorbitant.
