Where did you get this "new" iMac?

Why do you feel the need to restore the defaults, 99.9% of the time this is a waste of time, energy and resources.

However if you insist , hold down Command + R on startup to enter the Recovery Partition.

Did you boot holding Shift-Option-Command-R keys?

If it is a new Mac you have free support, I suggest you use it to contact Apple.

If it's truly new, and they are an authorized retailer (which I seriously doubt), then you are entitled to 90 days of free telephone support from Apple. I suggest you take advantage of it or take it back to the store.

istore is an authorized Apple Reseller.

Itns new out the box yes, i restored a time machine backup from my macbook pro which wasnt a good idea.
