I have a mid 2014 MacBook Pro running 10.12.6. I have used a 1st Generation 500 GB Airport Time Capsule to back up the machine for several years. It is connected wirelessly to my computer. It has performed well until the past few months. In June I received a message: Time Machine Completed a verification of your backups on "xxxxxxxxxxx". To improve reliabililty, Time machine must create a new backup for you." This removed all old backups and took about 30 hours to create a new backup. The unit continued backing up hourly for about 20 days then repeated the new back up. Today after about another 30 backup's I received the same message.

Is there a way to fix or at least diagnose this problem
