installing itunes on windows 10.Window open say...

Window opens saying " There is a problem with windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. No error codes present. Any ideas

Try repairing Apple Software Update from the Programs and Features control panel, then reinstall iTunes.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Hi TT, my stupid butt deleted iTunes before I saw these responses and I tried to reinstall itunes and now it's telling me the same thing. A file needed is missing. Now I don't know what to do. I don't even know what msi file I'm looking for or if it's even an msi file that's missing. Please help.

Can you post the exact text of the error message? It might jog a brain cell. Otherwise the steps in second box with the notes below should usually do the trick.

Okay I reinstalled it after repairing the file in the programs and features section and it seemed to allow me to reinstall it okay again. HOWEVER, there are many times where when I do things like 1. Drag and drop music files, 2. Drag and drop cover art to songs on my itunes then click Ok, or 3. When the darn thing is syncing and "waiting for iphone to update" during the syncing process, it stays like that forever. I've tried everything and that's partly why I deleted and reinstalled the whole thing. I even restarted my computer and my iphone and everything. Still it does that a lot. What makes the syncing process freeze so much like that? Please help.

Which build do you have installed? Some may not work as well as they ought to for some users.

What anti-virus software do you have, if any? These can sometimes bring iTunes down.

Which build? What do you mean? As for antivirus I have Trend Micro Maximum Security 2017 installed.
