IPad 2 Crashing after IOS 9.0.2 Update, Useless

My Ipad 2 will hardly run anything since these last few updates.  It's been running slower and slower over the past year, with every update.  And now it's to the point with IOS 9.0.2, it's almost completely useless.

I've tried all the fixes, reboot, hard reboot, updated on MAC Book Pro. 

I personally think for spending almost $1000 less than 4 years ago, I should be able to run simple programs on my Apple Ipad 2.

I've been a faithful customer for years, with everything MAC, and I feel like it's a push to make me by a new Ipad.

Can't you at least give us IPad 2 users updates we can at least use the simplest programs on our IPad2's?

Getting really annoyed.

My iPad 2 is the same since the 9.0.2 update. Apps are crashing, as is Safari, it's very slow to start any apps and even typing is slow. I have restarted/reboot but no better.

I'm having the same issues.  S-l-u-u-g-g-ish.  Crashing.  Safari is a mess.  If you are an iPad user and haven't upgraded yet to iOS 9 - DON'T!  It's horrible.

Apple.  If you monitor these comments, please give iPad 2 users a backdoor so we can go back to iOS 8.04.  I love my iPad -- iOS 9 is killing it.

Try a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

Try turning on Reduced Motion.

This is found in the Settings App in the General tab  the left panel.

In the right panel look under Accessibility, the look for Reduce Motion and turn this feature "On".

You should see an appreciable performance increase on all iPad 2, 3 and 4 models.

Exactly. I had to delete a game I was playing because it crashed every time I tried to play it. I played it fine before the update. It still crashes with other apps as well. I love my iPad 2. All updates worked fine, but this one I feel has damaged my iPad. Of course I would like a new iPad. But I want to keep this one working too. I don't want to feel forced in to a new one. It shouldn't be made obsolete. I would like to go back before the update if it can not be used on ipad 2. After this update I worry that this iPad isn't even a good note pad for all the crashing.

Have you tried any if my suggestions to tamara m.?

I have upgraded 3 older iPads (two iPad 2s and my own iPad 3 and had no issues. All the older iPads are running iOS 9.0.2 just fine.

How much storage space is left on your iPad 2?

Yes I have turned on reduced motion. I will see how that goes. I have 25,5 available and 1,9 used. Thank You for replying. I just hope my comments can be used constructively and better help in updating our systems. I do love my iPad 2; it is one of the best products I have ever purchased. Battery life is good. I want to keep using my ipad a while longer before I decide on the iPad upgrade in the near future.

IT just crashed again while trying to play candy crush soda saga and listen to iHeart radio. Disconnects the bluetooth speaker and reconnects. The whole iPad crashes.

I deleted everything on the Ipad 2, then had a horrible time reinstalling with my MacBook Pro computer.  Called customer support.  1st call, was told it was old, and I could pay $250 to get a new one.  Another Ipad 2 that will do the same thing?  I don't think so.  And they were rude to me.  I even spoke to 2 managers, and the last was the rudest.

2nd call to apple customer support.  We tried again, and it finally reinstalled.  Before this, it was dead.  Usless.  Now after reinstall, it still crashes on most game apps, and runs slow with everything.  Tech told me I was the 5th person she'd helped that day with the same exact problem.  She was very nice.

I would think it could at least be used to read a book, listen to some music, and just some other basic things.  To be able to be passed down to a child to use.  To not completely waste the $950 I paid 4 years ago, and the $100 I paid to replace it due to it not chariging anymore just a year ago.

I feel really riped off.  I know computer technogly advances quickly, so it being older is understandable.  But at least let them be usable while still able to run.

Very frustrating.

I tried all that numerous times.  Then finally after 5 or 6 attempts deleted and did a complete reinstall.  New downloads.  It's still slow, and below good performace.  Poor performance.

Have you checked your app store to see if any of the apps have updates available? If they are ready for updates try that. Make sure all your settings are where you want them. The update changed all of my settings 2 days after I updated it and I wasnt getting emails so I had to change all my settings back to the way I had them. I had downloaded a photo editing app and It started crashing so I deleted it then readded it and it works fine now. My wifi started cutting off that day also. I would be on a website and after about 2 mins it would cut off again. I just cut my ipad off and then back on again and it fixed the wifi problems. I wish you luck!

Check the amount of free space available on your iPad. An adequate amount of free space is required for any iPad to run efficiently. With iOS 8 and 9 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free.  For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.

All apps are up to date. I even removed the one game that crashed with every attempt to play it. I use 1.9 GB and 25.5 available. It is the new up date believe me! It worked fine before that.

I Am just hoping for a new update to fix the bugs now.
