High Sierra Install ruined file permissions and...

Upgraded to High Sierra.  I run parallels with win 10.  After update completed it stated my login password can no longer match iCloud so I changed it.    I login and notice parallels wouldn’t load.  After an hour I finally figured out how to find the folder, open get info, change permissions, get windows to load.

Then I notice most of my files on Mac side I no longer have permissions for.   I try the same tactic where I open get info for each folder but even adding permissions to my username, to admin no avail.  One time it briefly let me access a folder I modded permissions to then it reverted.    I also have no clue how you change permissions to all sub folders under a main folder.   Changing this all one by one would take ages.   My music folders by artist.  My documents.  Not photos.  No permissions to any of it

What the **** happened here? And how do I fix.

Follow these reset instructions exactly: Resolve issues caused by changing the permissions of items in your home folder - Apple Support

I figured out how to apply the file permission changes under get info to all subfolders.  So that saved time.  I have two folders on my main drive however still that will still not let me access them even with file permissions set to myself and admin for read/write.    This is odd.  Anyone have any ideas here?

Also, Parallels is up and running, windows will load and I seem to have good functionality however now I notice that the parallels tools reinstall will not work in windows.  It fails.

didn't fix the issue with the two folders.   For a second I was able to open one of the folders and see the subfolders inside.  Saw many subfolders had the red dash still with no access then it bumped me out and the main folder itself had the red dash back with no permissions.

Which version of Parallels is that? Only versions 12 (partially) and 13 are more or less compatible with High Sierra.

version 13 i've had for a couple weeks now.   No issues before the high sierra install.      Just rebooted the machine.    For a brief second I had access to the second folder I usually can't access then I lost rights again.    Both of these folders are on my main ssd drive and not items under home.   Also I am noticing items that always ran on startup and showed up in the top taskbar aren't loading again now on reboots.  Things like plex, dropbox, parallels toolbox.    Not sure how to resolve that.  -update resolved the login items, added them back into login items.  no idea why they were removed as part of the high sierra install.     Man this update bricks a lot of ****.
