Trouble restoring shuffle

I'm having trouble restoring my Ipod Shuffe

I connect it to my PC and it says an ipod has been detected that needs restoring, i press the restore now button and it comes up with an 1439 error message saying it cannot be restored.

I've looked around the internet for solutions and nothing seems to work.

I've tried it on 2 laptops, tried many different versions of Itunes, tried all my USB sockets and tried various connection leads and i'm still getting the same problem.

Could it be a hardware problem?
