Mac mail flickering window

Hey guys

So: Running Sierra (10.12.6) on a mid 2015 iMac.

Mac Mail has just started to flicker an unsent mail window at roughly one second intervals so that I can neither send it nor close it and Mail has become completely unusable.  Specifically, the mail window flickers front to back with the main inbox window. I've tried positioning the pointer and closing, but it 'jumps' up or down, away from the pointer.

I've run Norton and found no viruses. I've restarted.  I've run First Aid.

Open to ideas.
