Update Billing Address in Apple Pay

I've been unable to change the billing address shown on my iPad in Apple Pay. I've read many other previous posts about the same issue but there wasn't any resolution. All of my Apple services have been updated to my new address. Apple ID, iTunes, etc.  The card issuers have the correct information and on my phone the address was updated correctly in the Apple Screen for the same cards.

But trying to edit the address on my iPad does not work. The correct address is shown as an option but selecting it does not stick. It always reverts back to the old one. Under shipping address the correct one is showing. Has anyone found a sure fire resolution for this? I'm on the latest software releases on each device and my contact card(me) only has the new, current address.

Good evening papjo,

Welcome to the Support Communities!

If you are unable to edit the billing address for a card you are using with Apple Pay on your iPad, try following the steps in the resource below.  If the information still won't update, remove the card, and add it back with the correct billing information.

Manage the cards that you use with Apple Pay

Update your billing and contact information

Learn how to update your billing and shipping information for the cards that you use with Apple Pay.

iPhone or iPad

  • To change your billing information, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, tap a card, then tap what you want to update.
  • To update your email address, phone number, and shipping address, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, then choose what you want to update.

Remove a card

If you need to, you can remove a card from your device. You can keep up to eight cards on a device.

iPhone or iPad

To remove a card that you use on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, tap the card that you want to remove, then tap Remove Card.

Set up Apple Pay on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac

Here's what you need to use Apple Pay in supported regions:

You can add up to eight cards on any device. If you want to use Apple Pay with more than one device, you need to add your card to each device

Add a card on your iPad

  1. Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.
  2. Tap Add Credit or Debit Card.
  3. Follow the steps to add a new card. If you're asked to add the card that you use with iTunes, just enter its security code.
  4. Tap Next. Your bank or card issuer will verify your information and decide if you can add your card to Apple Pay. If your bank or issuer needs more information to verify your card, they'll ask you for it. When you have the information, go back to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and tap your card.
  5. After your bank or issuer verifies your card, tap Next. Then start using Apple Pay.

Take care.

Setting up Apple Pay is not the issue. It's been set up from the beginning with the same 2 cards. But I have moved to a different home address and the billing address in Apple Pay Settings cannot be changed to the new address. It always reverts back to the previous address.

I followed these steps and removed my card. But when i tried to add it back it auto-populated with the same old billing address and when i try to update the billing address it does not save the change.

I'm having the same issue. No matter how many times I edit the billing address or delete and re-add the card, the old address still comes back. Very annoying. Thankfully it hasn't caused any transactions to deny

There's another long thread about this also. I have 2 cards from 2 different banks verified and in use for Apple Pay on 3 devices, Watch, phone, and iPad. The same 2 cards are verified on my wife's 3 devices, the cards are my accounts. On all 6 devices we changed the billing address to our new home after we moved in December. Of 6 devices only my iPad reverts back to our previous address. The other 5 were straight forward, change home address on our contact cards, go to Apple Pay and select the new address that is now showing and delete the previous one.

I have done a restore of the device and every other thing I can think of but that old address continues to come back on that iPad. At this point I'm assuming only replacing this iPad, which I am planning to do when new models are announced, will correct this. From my experience and all the others that have commented it's like our previous address is somehow hard wired into the device hardware itself. I don't know how that's possible but that's what it seems like.

If it were an iCloud issue it would have popped up on the other devices. It can't be an issue with the bank because I have 2 cards from different banks. The only issue is with the iPad. Fortunately as you have mentioned it does not cause any purchase or billing issue when using to buy something. But it is annoying.

I'm having the exact same issue and it's been driving me nuts. Only happens on my iPad and only with this one card. The address it's populating for the billing address is not valid and exists nowhere on any of my devices. It existed two years ago as part of my contact card, but that has long since been deleted and replaced with a new address.

I was thinking I might have to do a restore, but it looks like you've done that already and that doesn't fix the issue either.

The only thing I didn't do is to do a total wipe of the device, erase all content and settings and set up as a new device instead of restore from a backup. That leads to so many hassles and inconveniences that I wasn't going to try. And if it didn't work then I'd really be ticked.

I mentioned this in another thread but I received a new iPad Pro today. I ordered it to replace this current one. After getting it all set up, including Apple Pay the correct address filled in. No sign of the old, previous address. So this is specific to the device.

How an address can get hard wired into a device I have no idea. But that seems to be what's going on.

I had the same issue. After many attempts to delete the incorrect address and click the correct one, it still didn't work. So I check my contact and made sure my address was correct then selected the "Add from existing contact" and chose my contact info. So far, so good.

Old work address keeps re-appearing as my default billing address, too!!!

I've had this problem on my iPad for a long time.  Not sure if it has been since iOS 10 came out or before.  I have NEVER used my work address as my billing address. Furthermore, my work address changed last fall and I updated my address in Contacts ("me").  And this new work address get set as my default -- but the old one does.

Sometimes Apple Pay reverts to my old work address right away.  Other times my old address magically re-appears after a week.

I've tried the following to no avail:

1. I updated the billing information under Wallet & Apple Pay.

2. I deleted the credit card completely and then re-added it.

3. I logged out and back into iTunes & App Stores.

4. I checked my iTunes billing address and it reflects my home address.

When I pay via Apple Pay, I must always check the billing address that appears because I never know when this old, phantom address will re-appear!

Device: iPad Air 2

OS: iOS 10.3.3

I don't have this problem on my iPhone (knock wood).
