How do I see old messages on new iPad?

I am setting up my new iPad Pro. My iPhone messages are saved foreve, but do not show up on the new iPad.  How do I see my old saved messages on the new iPa?

Check that the Apple ID is the same for both devices.

Select your phone number and email address that you want to sync to that device.
