my IMEI #

I talked to support i think, They asked me for a credit card i told them I did not have it with me at the time then they asked me for my IMEI #. Does apple customer service usually asks for my IMEI #  Or this is unusual ? Thanks

Not sure who you talked to but it was definitely not Apple Support.   Apple will never ask for your credit card number, and will only request IMEI if there's no other way to identify a device, which is usually done via serial number or even model number.

Whoever you talked to was decidedly not Apple Support. How exactly did you contact them? Or How and why did they contact you?
