The smart keyboard cannot be recogized from the...


The smart keyboard cannot be recongized by my ipad pro 12.9 gen 1.

Is it an general case and waiting for software fix?

Try a reboot press &hold power button down & menu button hold both down until you see apple logo this can take 30 seconds.

Then try keyboard.

Just got off the phone with AppleCare about mine - it's a known issue and if your serial number is in the range of those affected (mine was) they'll replace it. 



Went the Apple Genius bar, confirmed the smart keyboard is failed.

I cannot believe that the AppleCare is not applied on the smart keyboard. Deeply disappointed

The repair cost HKD1,148 while the new smart keyboard cost HKD1,348.....

 

Nothing to say and I make a decision...



Please don't pay them!  Apple just this week issued a 3 year warranty on the Smart Keyboard because they've been failing.  Here's an article explaining the program:

I would like to use the bluetooth Keyboard ..... I miss Steve 



Did you actually try this? I just chatted with a representative that told me that article was not valid.  I'm very disappointed. I'm going directly to the store, and see if they will replace it.



So even though the keyboard has this known issue,  it can only be replaced IF you have AppleCare? Or are they really extending the warranty to a year?



This doesn't work.
I did do a complete "off" with the power switch alone.

When I restarted it the iPad Pro spent the next 5 minutes carrying out all the keyboard strokes that had occurred since it stopped working.
After it finished blinking the keyboard started working again.
The reboot with the power/menu combo didn't work, but selecting off did.



The Smart Keyboard has a three year extended warranty (Recent as of May 2017).  Take it to the Apple Store, and they will replace it for you.



I too have been having this continuous PROBLEM with the Smart Keyboard. After deciding to trouble shoot by diagnosing when the board was not recognized I've made a conclusion. This issue seems to be related to the power source or the charging system. When my iPad Pro 12.9in is not connected to a power source and my battery charge has been below 85% the board isn't recognized.  Recognition does occur after several attempts when 85%-100% of power is restored. I'm still hoping to replace my less than 2year old keyboard for NO CHARGE from Apple as like many of you, when you pay more, you expect more. Hope this helps fellow customers and Apples' R&D.
